Chrysler Corporation and "New Chrysler" Chrysler, when 50 year old Walter P Chrysler formed the Chrysler Corporation in 1924 from the assetts of the Maxwell Motor Company (which he had spent four years reviving), could he have known the dramatic future in store for his namesake? Dodge, always the tough, edgy performance brand of the group was formed in 1900 by Horace and John Dodge and acquired by Chrysler in 1928.It boasts famous nameplates such as Challenger, Charger Daytona, Dart, Monaco & Ram... Plymouth, was introduced in 1928 to compete in the low-priced field against Ford and Chevrolet. Despite such humble origins and an untimely demise in 2001, Plymouth retains an aura of heroic proportions with such star-studded names as Barracuda, Duster, Fury, Hemi 'Cuda, Neon, Prowler, Roadrunner, Superbird and more... Jeep, THE original 4 x 4 off-road SUV. The first Civilian Jeep (CJ) appeared in 1945. Chrysler became steward of this iconic brand in 1987 with the purchase of American Motors Corporation. Cherokee, Gladiator, Honcho, Jeepster, Wagoneer, Wrangler... Eagle, was AMC's last model line designed wholly in the USA. The Jeep/Eagle divison was formed after Chrysler's purchase of AMC in 1987. Eagle survived until the 1998 "merger" with Mercedes-Benz. Models include Eagle Wagon, Premier, Talon, Vision...
