Acadia replaced Envoy as GMC's mid-sized SUV offering. Whereas Envoy was based on GM's excellent GMT360 truck platform, Acadia uses the Lambda car platform with all-round independent suspension and FWD or AWD.Its still a full-size 8 seat vehicle with ample room for large families or heavy hauling. Therefore, its no surprise to find GM's corporate big V6 under the hood.
With 3.6 litres, four overhead cams and 24 valves with variable timing (VVT), this ultra-smooth six delivers a healthy 275 bhp and an impressive 251 ft lb torque, which coupled with a six-speed automatic, moves Acadia with authority. All the while providing surprisingly good fuel economy for such a big, luxurious and spacious vehicle - nearly 30 miles per (English) gallon at highway speeds!
In order to complement Acadia's stylish appearance, lighting mods need to be carefully crafted. Developed by Teslayn Engineering's R & D Labs, the solid state 'GEN7' digital controller coupled with their HyperLED and HyperBar illumination work in harmony with GM's advanced body control
electronics, allowing for several levels of up-gradeable modifications.
