The Oldest established "Transplant" Nissan Motor Corporation USA, was established more than fifty years ago in 1959, with links to Detroit as far back as 1908! Nissan began manufacturing in continental USA in the early 1980's, with the opening of its first facility in Syrna, Tennessee, building trucks. Nissan rose to prominence in 1970 with the US launch of its globally acclaimed Datsun 240Z sports coupe. Since then successful vehicle lines such as Armada, Frontier & Titan, have been wholly designed, built & marketed by Nissan USA. Datsun, was an automobile marque created in 1931 by the DAT Motorcar Company, itself taken-over by Nissan in 1933. Nissan phased out the Datsun marque in 1986. Fairlady roadster, 240Z, 300ZX, 510, 720, Skyline, GT-R... Infiniti, was formed in 1989 to represent Nissan in the North American super-luxury car market competing against Lexus, Cadillac, Lincoln, Mercedes Benz, BMW et al. Models exclusive to the USA and Canada include FX35, FX45 and the Q56 SUV.
